Kids Helping Kids is a non-profit, teen volunteer organization, headquartered in Montclair, New Jersey. Mischa Zimmermann founded Kids Helping Kids in 1997 after he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of thirteen. After more than a year in the hospital, Mischa started what has become a very successful, renowned organization that provides mobility equipment and companionship for kids who’ve been affected by catastrophic illness or injury and who can’t afford the things that will help them re-enter their lives as normal teenagers.   Molly Zimmermann - Mischa’s sister and KHK volunteer - visits with a little girl at Children’s Specialized Hospital “Our mission is to keep kids involved in the world of their peers and help them know they haven’t been forgotten,” said Mischa. Kids Helping Kids has been honored by the National Caring Institute, Rosie O’Donnell’s SuperKids, the Volvo for Life Awards and others for helping to increase awareness among the healthy youth of America about the huge difference they can make in the life of another child.  We estimate that over the years we have been in existence, thousands of kids have had the experience of doing something for someone less fortunate than themselves. Teens call every day from all over the country asking about how they can use their free time or community service hours to make a difference in the lives of their peers who’ve been traumatically affected by an illness they’re familiar with or an injury one of their friends has just sustained. Materials are available to help you run an event to support our work. Parents, teachers, counselors, school administrators etc., are always encouraged to show their support by helping wherever they can to help teach volunteers the benefits of community service. hisstory.htmlshapeimage_1_link_0
