One of the biggest benefits our teen volunteers can receive working with Kids Helping Kids is the education they can get about running a successful socially responsible enterprise. Managing a profitable business from idea creation through cost assessment, goods procurement, manufacturing, marketing and sales is an experience our volunteers have gotten first hand...very successfully. And all to benefit their peers who need funds to help get them back into the world. Here are two great examples of social entrepreneurship.

The Kids Helping Kids Heart Bracelet

These beautiful bracelets were made by the teen volunteers of Kids Helping Kids. And in the first year alone, the kids made close to $10,000 in just one Valentine’s Day season. Local bead stores began supporting the kids in this win-win situation. The merchants helped out by supplying the materials, the space and expertise and, in turn, they got the joy of knowing they were helping kids in need as well as helping the well teens to learn a valuable business lesson and understanding of giving back. The bracelets were sold in local stores and on the Kids Helping Kids website.

Kids Helping Kids heart bracelets are now a year-round item. They come in a pretty organza gift bag with a card that explains the mission of the organization. The card explains that when you’re wearing the Kids Helping Kids heart bracelet, you carry with you the knowledge that you’ve helped heal a child, since the profits keep our programs going strong. Another spin on this idea came from one of our headquarters’ wonderful interns, YsauraFernandez. Not wanting to be left in the dust, this Kids Helping Kids whirlwind from Keane University put together a Bracelet-a-thon of her own, with a twist. She and her friends made bracelets for a bridal party! Keep it in mind!

The Kids Helping Kids Art Card Collection

Another annual event has been our Art Card Collection. We sell sets of cards that feature art done by our teen volunteers and the kids who are in hospitals and in rehabilitation centers. We are always looking for new artists to submit their work. Our cards are very popular and, every year, the demand grows. Here are two of the designs from the most recent Holiday Collection.
